Mud bandit was fun, not something I want to run all day with the stiff suspension and having to ride the brakes all day. SO, phase 2 will be to transform from Mud bogger to rock racer. It will not be done for November, no chance in hell. so next spring for Rausch races, then line mountain races, and the one in North carolina.

Phase 2 includes:

1. Replace transmission with TH400, engine braking, full manual? control etc.

2. Replace transfer case with Atlas 5:1 or 6:1 or Stak transfer ...

has a 2 core radiator in currently and we have heard that this

One of the mechanics at the shop was driving his Jeep and while shifting from 3rd or into 3rd don't remember which, he suddenly was locked out of all gears. It felt like something was jammed. He took the entire trans apart and found that the shift fork was stuck. He unjammed it and put it back together. He shifted through all the gears then it got jammed in 5th. Pulled it apart again and discovered that the shift fork wouldn't release and pull ...

i had no problems last time out with my tranny overheating at all. but i think i might of run the pump dry on hells hole. it wines when you rev it up now and in my opinion it does slip when it gets hotter. i have a spare c-6 tranny and i am going to perform a rebuild on it myself. it is only 3 gears (no overdrive) and my older brother has rebuilt th350 before. so he can give me some insight. maybee if anyone can find a c-6 transmission rebuild video somewhere you can post a link. thank you. ...

Bill sent me some info on what to check on the Jeep to see why it won't start but I haven't done anything yet other than check the fault codes and I got an 11. Jon was talking about the magnetic uptake in the distributor going bad in his and that being a possible problem on mine. If that is the problem, wouldn't I get an error code 54 (Code 54 - Distributor sync pickup)??

Q. Good Day Vince, I have written to you about the problem I have had with my Explorer and your assistance has been very helpful. I am still having the following problem. I was driving home the other day and the transmission started slipping as I was going up an incline of about 30° when I noticed a cloud of smoke.

When I finally coasted to a stop in front of my house and lifted the hood I found that the transmission dip stick was pushed up out of the ...

I really want to spend the money on the toyota but with the lack of side work and the wedding expences that we have in the next couple of months I think that investing the money in the YJ is the better option. Seeing that the jeep is going to get used the most this summer. So I want to get the new shafts for the Dana 44 front in the YJ. I do plan on calling ...

So I decided tonight was a good night to at least get some prep work done for the motor swap.

So far the radiator is pulled out, serp. belt is off... and then I stopped...

The tensioner pulley is TOTALLY GONE... the idler pulley bearing is shot... and the serpentine belt is about half the width of what it once was...

So I found the source of the bearing squeal... errr... ...

Is this the normal design of the CJ frame? I know for a fact the guy that built this CJ the first time was an IDIOT! booger welds everywhere etc. Check out ...

Has about 4k to put into the build. I am considering the following - which is interesting since it has no lift, but high clearance fenders. Basically, a stock suspension running 35's but capable of fitting 37's.

Summary

Gen-right high clearance front fender with 6 inch flare and perforated hood replacement. 750-850.

SO after many months of my rear ARB not functioning I finally have a fix. I had a couple of problems going on. first of all the seal housing of the RD99 was too far out on the flange cap assembly so the seal would slip off the end and leak air. that has been fixed but the locker would still not function.

My TJ started making some noise when I get on/off the gas so I crawled underneath to check it out... The drive shafts both have about a quarter inch of rotational play when they enter the transfer case. The effect on the road is a slight chunk sound any time the forces change on the power train.

So my question - this may be a stretched chain - is it something that is worth trying to fix, or am I just as well off to drive it till it breaks?

Anyone sitting on an NP231 they don't want/need?

The pump instructions say to prime... the factory service manual (as well as a few forum posting I ran across http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=601124 ) say ...

Truss Rebuild

So the Rock Krawler truss did fail, the metal fatigued and ripped off teh axle. Also cracked in the middle, bolts were bent etc. I've been meaning to relocate the control arms for awhile anyway. the upper arms are much longer than the lower ones and that creates rear steer as it articulates and doesn't help driveline angles.

Found that the coilover bolts bent on both sides.

The welds did not come apart, it just ripped above the welds.

Notice the crack at the center ...

Airbag Fuse

I need to have the ability to disable my airbags for when I wheel and compete. I am very surprised they have not gone off yet...(with the roll and how hard I've hit plenty of things)
Is it as simple as pulling a fuse, or do I need to install a switch?

Has anyone had any experience with this?

Another Rock Krawler brand product bit the dust. During the wheeling event at Rock run Park on "Guru" the track bar mount ripped apart. I was able to escape the trail with the front axle winch sucked down and with the help of Kat's tow strap to help me steer through the woods.
