Axle / U-joint replacement?

I found this problem today. Looks like I bent the outer shaft yoke and the hole where the end caps go in is ovaled out. I am assuming I need a new outer shaft?

That sucks man...looks like it's time to pull it and see. I had something similar on my TJ, turned out the shaft (inner) was twisted as well. Check it all while you have it apart to be sure.

Hey Chris, I think you should upgrade to some chromo shafts. I'm not sure what the price is but I think Nick found a good deal on usa alloy and super joints for under 400. (i think) What those tires and wheeling it often you going to have that happen every 3 or 4 months if you wheel it hard and 6 or 7 if you take it easy. If you looking for stock replacement check the boards and ebay for deals.

Yeah I agree with Eric on this. Might be able to keep this as an emergency spare.

Yeah you should be able to jam a new spicer joint in to that axle but since it has been bent I wouldn't run on it but it will make a great spare. I still haven't seen anyone bust a chromo Dana 44 shaft.

Let me check with Jack over on creepers. Him and I were looking to swap his rubi and my buggy a few months back and he had a set of usa's for it. Let me see if he still has them.

Yeah - Von broke the driver side shaft on Tombstone coming up on the far left side.

Chris - Did the cap just fall out? Every u-joint I've removed has been a PITA to get the caps out.

yes, i had chrome moly shafts with yukon super joints and i snapped the ears off of the drivers side outer, i might be able to just get new caps for the joint and put it back together with a new outer
