What are your thoughts on this build? How do you feel about the rear leaf setup? Is it too old school? 2000 tj.
wheel base is 106" with rear xj leafs and 4.5. _________________ Best Quote "BACK UP, TAKE THE SKIRT OFF AND DRIVE" ---taken from KGB/CREEPER member.

| whats are the specs on the tj? I like the stance of it. Looks like you need to do some front end work. What direction do you have to take it and are you planning on street driving it at all? _________________ 2008 ADA run - Trail Master (all questions welcome)

| It will be driven around town but not as a DD, thats why I am getting the 24ft gooseneck.
The price is right on the TJ. 2000 4cyl, auto, 8.8 welded, 30, 106 wheelbase. Five brand new swampers . Cage is in there but I dont like it. 4.5 lift with xj rear leaf. He has a set of fusion tube fenders and a aussie locker that is still in the box. Not sure if I will even install the locker. I dont want to be putting money into a 30 on broken axles.
I am not sure if I want to push the front end out any. Too much and it will hang up on everything.
Plan would be to run it now and start collecting parts. I want the same axles i had in the buggy. 60's with 5.38's and 35 spline chromoly. If it all works out then it will be linked in the rear and running a northstar and atlas.
I want another buggy but the xj is not streetable and Tina wants to keep it. So I think I will start with this and see where it go's.
If I dont change my mind or find anything else then i will go get it next Saturday. _________________ Best Quote "BACK UP, TAKE THE SKIRT OFF AND DRIVE" ---taken from KGB/CREEPER member.

| | Devils advocate: So it sounds like you want a buggy. only thing salvageable of this towards the buggy is the tires, possibly body and frame? I think it would have to be one heck of a deal to take this instead of investing the money directly towards a buggy itself. |

X2 why waste money on it when your just going to chop it up to make it more like a buggy. Whats the cost on this jeep? _________________ "A yahoo made dangerous with power tools"

| Yes, I do want a all out tube chassis buggy just like I had and gave up so the the kids could go. Now that Tina enjoys being out we have decided to run two rigs. The problem is that the xj is way past the streetable stage and I cant see having two trail rigs. She wants to keep the xj.
Right now I am either going to..
1. Put a atlas and buy the coilovers I want for the xj and it will be done the way I want and then go and find a streetable wrangler and do just a mild build.
or
2. Leave the xj the way it is and let her run that and buy a wrangler and build it to the point it is still streetable to a point but very capable.
I found a sammi that I have admired for the past couple years but it is very built and that defeats having something to drive around on nice days.. _________________ Best Quote "BACK UP, TAKE THE SKIRT OFF AND DRIVE" ---taken from KGB/CREEPER member.

| How is that more streetable then the xj? It will have less body. What is stopping you from making the xj road friendly? It won’t pass inspection? But neither will that so I am guessing you have a way around that. _________________ I'm dumb |

Inspection is not a problem...
xj is linked front and rear with air shocks and 5.13's ... _________________ Best Quote "BACK UP, TAKE THE SKIRT OFF AND DRIVE" ---taken from KGB/CREEPER member.

| 4 cylinder TJ isn't a bad idea for a buggy build. Bad idea for a street right personally. The XJ could be street driven if you got a ARB for the 8.8 and sway bar disconnects. since you have a hook up you could have that thing to drive around on the street but its a 4 door hardtop. Still not as fun as a wrangler with the top down. If your looking for a build I would say start with something a little more stock. Unless that TJ is that good of a deal. You could always sell off the 8.8 and cage to build it different. I would say that 60's are the way to go. _________________ 2008 ADA run - Trail Master (all questions welcome)
