Welding the lower half of the door to the body???? Are you cutting the rear cab?

I have been looking at alot of the xj's that have the rear cab cut and then a canvas top made up for the rear. I hate the feeling of been closed in when in a cherokee.

yep i'm cutting the back off and giving the avalanch look. Alot of people I see just leave it open were the gate would of closed but i don't want to do that because having crap slide out of the back. That and it will give it a cleaner look plus more strength.

If you are going to move the tank I would only move it up a few inches level with the bottom of the frame. The only reason mine was moved was make room for the axle but you won't have that problem. I really like that jeep.

Moving the tank should be cheaper than protecting it. I would look in to a fuel cell since you wont be needing to have a 20 gallon tank when you should only burn about a 8-9 gallons for a weekend (thats what mine eats in two days wheeling) It would save you weight and and save space. Are you going to keep the back seat?

i'm going to get rid of the back seat and use all of that area for storage. Believe it or not the rig above was the tube jeep that I posted a picture of earlier in the thread. As far as the gas tank, that was my line of thought also with it being easier to protect it and have easier access for maintence.

I like that idea.. Thats what I have been thinking. They look good with a canvas top made for winter..

I have been thinking about it but dont know if i want to put the work into it since I want a buggy anyhow and let Tina wheel the xj.. I just got the rear winch mounted and rebuilt the front one. I need some wheeling time before I do another project.

Rolled it, me,na I just chose a different method of getting to the bottom of the hill then everyone else. Glad to see you back online. I'll be pulling the motor this weekened if anyone is interested in helping out. Also just came across a motor stand that some body is going to let me use so hopefuly in the next couple of weeks i'll pull the motor out of the rolled one (sorry tony I mean the one with the modified roof line) and start the rebuild on that. Hey Grason I'm going to need some parts brother.

Well, from the long sleep come tony, how are you doing man, I've tried calling you and all, without much luck. Hope everything is good with you guys.

Joe, that is some agressive plans for the Grand Cherokee. As it turns out I will be selling my Grand Cherokee Orvis, I got Sonia a Durango sport for work and their is no futher need for 4 vehicles in the family, besides, I will be going in for a Hernia operation in Feruary now, got a triple hernia that needs to be corrected and that's going to oput meout of wheeling for several months. Hell at this pace I will be lucky to wheel by May or June.

Know anyone wanting an already built rig, just needs lockers.

Man tico That stinks the hernia thing is back, But look at it this way if you concentrait on getting better you should be all right in time for spring wheeling 9

As far as jeep i'll keep an eye out for you. What did you want to get for it. Also would you want to sell the Rubicon rims/tires off of it. I could sell/trade you back another set so the thing wouldn't be rimless.

Joe,
I'll come over, sit in a lawn chair in your front yard, drink beer and watch!
The Home Owner's Assoc is gonna love this! You'll have 2 jeeps without motors in your yard, a pit bull running all over the streets, a 30 foot fire in the fire pit, and 3 guys drinking beer on your lawn!
king
Seriously though I'll come over to help out around lunchtime on Saturday. I'm helping my brother-in-law put brakes on his honda early Sat morning. 9
