PostSubject: Rear winch   Fri Dec 21, 2007 2:37 pm

I got my rear winch yesterday and plan to mount it on my rear upper shock mount. The winch will be inside the xj and the cable will stretch down thru the floor to the axle truss. I was going to weld a loop to the top of the axle truss.
My second thoughts are to use a over the axle strap or something like that around the truss.
Any other thoughts?

i would either weld a loop to the axle or get a little pully and weld that so you can run the hook back up to the floor and maximize the pulling power of the winch.

I took a large piece of heavy duty chain and cut one loop off. slid a pulley from tractor supply through the loop and welded it to the axle and doubled the winch line. Not really needed if you have a short winch line.
