Just a quick question, the show in york , do you all park in the same general area (as far as the club) or do they put you in sections according to vehicle spec's? Sorry this is my 1st year going up and putting my jeep in, not sure how it works? Thanks for any feed back you's may have Scott

if you are showing your jeep they tell you where to park. If you paid just to get in with your jeep to do the course you will be in line most of the time.

OK there are a lot of variations so let me set the record straigh. First question.
Q-Are you going there to work the event with me?
A-If so, then I will get you in at no charge. you can park your Jeep at our camp sight which is generally located by the entering gate of the event and nearest to the showers.

Q-Are you participating in the play area?
A- You will be directed where you can park. The event on saturday is usually reserve for the voting and the RTR ramp competition. (That's where I need our team to help) we are responsible for that part of the event. Volunteers are rewarded by entry and in September they hold a picnic for them and hold a free raffle, where you can win stuff you could use.

Q- Are you there to complete with your Jeep?
A- In which case you will be given a schedule/times of events, play in the o course and RTR ramp. Return the next day and receives your award if selected.

Note: Folks, I need a reply from members who are going to attend this event and help work it. I need 3 teams of 2 for both days. Learn to operate or manage the RTR ramp. I also need people to check in at the main tent where the raffel tickets are sold and register as a club member, they keep track of club members and club participation. It's about time we be recognized as both participants and volunteers.

If anyone has a sizeable tent and don't mind watching the tent area for the club I would also appreciate the help there. We can recreuit people for the club and pass out fliers about our event in September. WE can use this as a virtual meeting. Thanks for your help in advance. Any takers?

I was there sat from about 945-1130, wearing a rr black tee. I had already spoken with T who had indicated he had to work saturday. Originally I had thought I could work and he had given me a name of a guy to talk to but my plans changed and I was lucky to get any time to go, let alone time to work a couple hours.

I know when I saw T last year he had a tent set up for the group. I see by this thread be was asking for people to help. I can only surmise he had minimal response. I would assume he would be there today but maybe only a one man show

In tico defense he had to work but said he would be there sunday. As for me chopped back + no roll cage + no tags = no rocks at the show. Sides this show is more geared toward the people with clean jeeps and DD jeeps (ie bolt on crap people) then the people who roll there junk then roll it back over and keep going (ie fabrication people)

This seems to be a re-occuring event lately..

No monthly trail rides, tellico trip and others talked about and not done, no booth at PaJeeps, small attendance at get togethers.........

This conversation was brought up saturday three times..

I took the whole weekend off thinking we were working as the Rock Raiders on the rock garden then it changed to running the rti and then it was filling in spots around the other clubs..

A club should be a club working TOGETHER........

Probably gonna get flamed for this but sorry its the way it seems.. Tell me if I am wrong..............

I don't think there is going to be any flaming. Its all true. I assumed that it changed from the club running the RTI ramp to volunteer if you want something to do, to Rick type a thing. But you know what they say about assuming.

I was there Yesterday in the morning, meet a gentleman in a tent (sorry i forget names) and another couple looking for Tico. I'm still new to the club so i dont know anyone yet! And far as Tico having to work thats completely understandable. We all do what we have to do. I really want to get more invovled with the club it's just that i live in Pa. and it's hard for me to try and make it to things during the week nights when i work until 5:00 pm. and things start at 7:00 pm . Sorry i know this is probably off track of the whole conversation but just letting you's know where i stand in the club! But it's nice to have other members of the club reconize you when your wearing a club shirt and introduce themselves to you ( i appreciate that and Thank you's for that) My other club definitley doesn't do that!!!! Sorry to have bored you's to death Scott

I'm really sorry guys. I really wish I could be there but I was stuck under Emily's truck all Saturday and then under the YJ all day today. I really wanted to go and help with the tent but with the summer coming to a end (big dogs and the ada coming soon) I have made it #1 to get the rigs in order so I can get them out of the way and focus on things like club runs and the events we have planned. Everything you guys all said is true and it kinda sad but I think it was just very bad timing. Many of us that are willing and wanted to go to the show couldn't and those that did where lost or felt uninformed. Please don't loose faith in the club. We have a lot of great people in the club that want to help. I think matt is right about the whole communication thing. Only down fall is the distance between us all, we need to all get a custom to using the forum to voice our actions, availability and thoughts on everything we want other to know. Its our greatest tool. It sucks that Tico had to work cause he is the staple of this club when it comes to this stuff. He was more than likely not planning on having to work but like I said timing is everything and sometimes you can't help to stuff goes wrong. Those that are worried about club runs I plan on picking them up after the ADA run and the summer (busy season) is over. As for the events keep planning them and people will start to show they just need time to adjust. Weekend events normally work best for me cause I live a hour from the Baltimore area.

I have to agree with Z " but it is falling apart very fast there is nothing going on. It seems to rotate around certian few people." With a couple exceptions, and maybe I'm overstepping here, if Tico doesnt make the post, ask the questions, things just dont happen. This weekend was an example. Since Tico had to step back from going on runs I just see pickup groups usually based on one type of trail. I sort of screwed my self later on down the road as I put the second weekend open for group runs and planned family around that as best I could. (Did get pissed at the son for getting married during the august club run but only had to spend one night on the couch for the comment.) When the ada run switched to accomodate big dogs it moved to a weekend already planned. But that stuff happens to all of us and when one person does most of the planning - it affects all of us.

That rant aside, we are headed in the right direction. Nestor posted this ". Those that are worried about club runs I plan on picking them up after the ADA run and the summer (busy season) is over. " He also put together a nice family oriented skyline drive last year that introduced my wife to the group thus making jeeping easier on me. Others have coordinated other things. I think as more get involved so we don't rely one just one person it becomes not one mans club but all of ours. If each of us just take one thing (I call the winter chili potluck) then you will see a more active club.

OK, I have read all everyone is saying. Now hear me out. We have 162 forum members, 50 active members and only 1 person organizing and following things up to keep this club running and up to date. Note a problem here!

I began by stating that we had a chance to take over the " O " Course at the PAJeep event, but that they had already asked another group, that group confirmed their participation and we where asked to manned the RTI ram. they brought a second ramp to help speed things up during the ramp competition. I was there Sunday, and spoke to Rick Bear the Chairman of the event. He thank me for all the help our members provided and was super please they processed 90 vehicles win the time fram they had.

Yes, we are having a little problem with communication lately. Let's find out where the brake down occures, is it with me or is it with you? You think about it; I send out E-mails, post it on the MeetUp site, and on the forum. Outside of calling everyone myself, that's about does it. We are bigg enough right now where we have to have a sit down meeting, vote and pass a set of by-laws and operating procedures, elect a board that is committed to working the club in the right direction and carry out their assig duties to the term. Not abuse the possition elected to and work in cooperation with me to make it work. I am always open to dicuss such issues. But getting people together seems to get harder by the day. Where do we go from here?

I have a set of by laws ready and have been working on a operating procedure instructons too. I am calling for a 3 person board and 4 officers/directors. That is seven people to be dedicated and true to this club. Are you up to the challenge? Matt, I appreciated your imput, but in matters of the administration you can't have a say, you're not event an active member this year. No offense intended you know I love you like a brother.

Thank you Gill, that's quite a comment and I belive your on tract. It does take more than one person to run this mechine, and to wash our laundry here is not recommended, use the internal system of the MeetUp, onlymembers can talk and reply.

We have a lot of great poepl here and many are in the rough ridders, the ones that seem to do all the talking on this forum while others jsut read and comply or decide they are not going out on those trails. The chatter has to be identified per the level it was intended to be for. I have a great relationship with the other club presidents and people in with the fab business as well as the retail side. But the people in the club need to stand up, speak out and take charge, they need to own their spot.

I remember when i first became a member there was talk of a board of officers, but this never happened. For that reason, i never paid my dues this year to be a member. Tico, i respect what you do and what you have done but to say "Matt, I appreciated your imput, but in matters of the administration you can't have a say, you're not event an active member this year" is complete bullshit and a good way to keep him, and others, from paying their dues come January.

I'm 100% willing to work and help this club in any way i can and i understand it's a tough job for one person. I was disappointed on the turn out for the Jeep show and some more organization on all of our parts could have solved that. I was there and would have had no problem helping out...i didn't realize we were even needed and i left before there was any mention of helping on the rti ramp.

Also Tico, call me about the ADA t-shirts.

If that was directed at me, I am assuming that the other Matt is a active member. I take no offence. I really don't want a say. my previous post wasn't bashing the club or the way it is run or any of the members. It was saying that I am dumb ass because I may of been able to relieve some the members from there duties so they would have a better time.

Yah you are dumb!

Haha, in all seriousness though what you said is exactly how I feel about helping to relieve other members. I didn't even realize help was needed although i'm in a cloud half the time and am not blaming anybody by any means. We'll make up for York with a kickass turnout and well structured ADA Event! Also, trail rides do seem to occur more once the summer winds down and i'm willing to help out and guide and organize club runs if needed - i'm only an hour 15 away and i like to get out as often as possible.

PostSubject: re   All Bread Jeep Show Icon_minitimeSun Jul 20, 2008 11:52 pm

Tico,
Lets get the Matt's staight.. It was me that said what I said.. For clarification I am not pointing finger at no one individual.. Its all of us that make a group and we all need to step up.. There are going to be times when members cant make events and thats a simple fact of life. I know I have many times made plans and had to cancel last minute due to the kids or work. None of us can help that.
What I think and its my opinion is that we need atleast a person who puts together the thoughts of the club members. If we speak about a event or get together than someone needs to put these thoughts down on paper or on the forum and follow up and combine everyone's thoughts into one plan. With the pace of most of our lives we dont think some of these plans out until someone else does the grunt work and then we see what is going on and decide thats something I would like to do.
I was speaking to Chris Taylor on Saturday and some of the members of the Christian Crawlers branched off and created their own division just because of the same problems we are having. Everyone is talking and no one is doing.
If someone wants to be a event planner than we can all shoot ideas at that person and they can get the thoughts together and come up with dedicated dates, times and places.
If we plan a monthly ride than we need to stick together as a group and run as a group. There is nothing wrong with splitting into groups and running different levels of trails but lets meet at a designated point and atleast have lunch together. I think we lost some of the members due to some of us always wanting to push the limits. I know of two members that stopped coming because they were pushing their rigs to far. Paul is always volunteering to run the greens with the new members. Thats great.. Lets meet up with these groups and discuss what they are doing. We all like to talk about our rigs and thats usually how we got started too..
