| i have a np205 mounted to a FORD c-6 tranny. do they make a low range kit for this t.c. if so were can i get it. the low gear range for this right now is 1.98 . i am sure that they make a kit with a 3 to 1, not sure if it is applicable for the ford version of the 205 | |

| from what I have seen with those T-cases the kit is only for the chevy guys. Von if your looking for the simple way to make this work I would think a doubler is your best option. I'm still reading up on this and I will post what I find. | |

| i know. i allready had an np203 to do the doubler with laying around. but because this is a ford 205, along with the kit of 700+ dollars i would of had to purchase another adapter to mate the 203 up to my c-6 tranny. probably another 400.00. then the darn thing would of been around 28 inches long. i have a 2 foot rear driveshaft with my 15 inch long 205 right now. there is just no way it would work unless i put a stick shift in. then that is more $$$$$... and i really want to keep the automatic. if i have to i will save my money for awhile and look at the stak or atlas | |

| a 3 to 1 case and my 4.10 rear would give me a crawl ratio of 30.75............stock case with the 1.98 to 1 and my 4.10 rear is 20.29........with a 5.38 rear it is 26.6. i was hoping to just put the money in the t.c and leave the rears alone and weld them for now | |

| Looks like the only kit out there is for GM, lomax 3:1 kit. The kind of gear ratio change you are talking about won't do that much with the rear end change. save your money there. Save your money and run it like it is. It runs great so why change it. If you have to have lower gears then 1: expensive - save for the stak or atlas. 2: medium cost - try to locate used parts to get the GM 205 and buy the kit and a used adapter from ebay. 3: cheap - do nothing and accept the fact that your vehicle rocks just as it is and use the money for wheeling. | |

| lower gears in the axle puts less stress on drive shafts and case | |

| bill, this article is for my buggy with the 460 bb in it and 40 inch tires. my jeep has a 36 crawl ratio and does ok...thanks for the compliment though i will take the buggy out and have some fun with it to see how it reacts, the i will eventually get 5.38 gears and worry about the t.c. later............I WILL HAVE IT READY FOR SEPT. | You know with the automatic transmission you really don't need as low of gears as with a manual. It may actually hurt you. I still say run it as is and see how it performs on what you want to run it on and go from there. | |
