| Success for the first Rausch Creek Scavenger hunt by the Maryland Rock Raiders Friday November 14th, 2008 Paul Sobwick and Tico Carreras took on the challenge to set up the first ever Scavenger hunt at Rausch Creek. Under extreme weather condition, wind, rain and fog, they set out to place the items at various locations throughout the park. Beginning at about 10 AM through to 3:30PM, this made for a long day. On the last items they decided to head back to the hotel and rest for the next day’s event. Saturday, November 15th, 2008 The Park hosts the Hard Rock Crawlers from southern Maryland, The Baltimore 4 Wheelers, and the Mid-Atlantic Four Wheel Drive Association members (Maryland Rock Raiders, Capital Off Road Enthusiasts and the PAJeeps members among several others. Paul and Tico wait for the members to arrive and conduct a drivers meeting, on cue, the teams begin their search for the items and clues. Paul Sobwick heads out with the Orange team and Tico with the Green team. The rain and fog didn’t help the situation or the ability to see where you were headed, but the hunt has begun. Throughout the park the vehicles run searching and looking while they run, some bounce and some jumped but they all found their target goals. The day was wet and windy too, but rest assured they all had a ball why didn’t you! So let this be a lesson to all, that when you stay at home you are no fun, you sit and you wonder what you could have done. We finished the hunt by reaching the shed, we scramble and to search for some more bonus points, and when it was said and done the green team had won. There will be another Scavenger hunt in the spring and this one will have a cash prize. So, be in the lookout for more details to come. | |

| HillBilly (Adam) lost about half of his alternator belt in frog hole, and ran much of the remainder of the day with grit and stones squealing in his brake disks....
We learned that the winch does not work once the solenoid is under water. A real trooper, I pulled him out with his own winch cable hooked to the blue Rubicon, and after a bit of drying out and removing little bits of belt that had gone everywhere - including into the hose clamp for his upper radiator hose (I have no idea how)... We were back up an running - though much more loudly than before.

| I was looking forward to attending but had 2 of 3 jeeps on jack stands and the wife was not letting me take the Rubi. Oh well, I'll catch the one in spring. Glad it was a success. | |

| The interesting part is how people were interpreting the clues, the one at the Frog Hole said "you must take a picture of a team member at the Frog hole" but Adam, a trooper for sure decided to give everyone present a show, and a show he did give whether in tensional or not".
There was a group of 11 waiting to pass the frog hole and climb the hill, another group of trucks already at the hill waiting to pass through and the rest of us just wanting to move on to the next clue. It was fun, wet and exciting just to see how the team interprets and carried out the clue.
I give all the credit to Paul who proposed it to me and did all the work of putting this together. Huge thanks to Paul and all the participants for making this event great!

| we thought about having someone wade in and stand in the hole for the photo op, but Hillbilly went in before we really discussed it. I offered since I was running a snorkel too - but he was in front of the line.
He put on a good show. | |
