Well, the day began with me being late to our first stage, but the morning was cool and clear a much welcome weather considering the past weeks heat wave. We headed out by 7:10 or so from Tom's Gas station, Chris Lloyd cought up to us on the road. Travelling in caravan style, I lead the group, we arrived at the Shell station in Pine Grove by 8:10 and at the Park by 9AM. All was well and everyone got to check in on time, once we got aired down and settled we headed out. Our plan was simple, to run the greens and light blues, after running on out on trail L3 heading towards F trail, we decided to go directly to the comp course. Looking at the various obsticles, we began to tackel a few, strating with me on a pile of rocks that looked no harder than what we are used to running. Once on the line of approach, I began the climb, but came to a snag and a loud SNAP!, OH S*^%. I broke another rear driveside axle, Dam, I barely got my day started and I was broken already. As we stood there for several minutes deciding what steps to take first.
Joe, and I decied to address the cituation and see if we could fit it, he said he had another axle on the truck and would got get it. I began to highlift the Jeep and we ended up jacking up both sides. the SNAP was ugley, it shattered inside the locker and there was metal savings everywhere. As if that wasn'tbad enought I also ended up bustine another rear shock, a Belstine 5150, this must have been the 5th one I broke, Not impress with their results. Having a problem taking out the c clip, I ended up calling Tony another friend made there at the park, who is a mechanic, After his arrival the guys helping me out took a break and did some wheeling.
Tony showed his expertise by taking the c clip out in not time and eventually fixing my problem, once the axle was good to go, he headed toward the "O" Trail and I headed out with Joe back to the group.
As we where dealing with the axle, I asked Ryan to take the group to the trails and he did a fine job guiding them. From there on the rest of the day was incident free, with only the traditional bumps and scrapes.
The rest of the day was incident free, so it looked like I took the blunt of the damages for the day. most of the crew left for the day except Smokey and Paula, Karl and Mel, Alan and his friends stayed at the camp site. Dinner at O'Neals was once again great!, and like before I stuffed myself, as did Scott and Karl. Great day of wheeling among our new members and friends. Tomorrow Sunday is another day and another new story to follow.
