| Go prepared. build the jeep so you can enjoy the trip. Then plan where to go and how to get there. I want to make a run to Tellico again here in the next year or so. That should be a good stepping stone to figuring on the Moab or the Rubicon. Just remember those are mostly state and Fed owned land. No hotels or staging areas with people with Dana 35 shafts. | |

| I'm going to Moab in August or September. So far I'm only planning the RT 66 trip, but I've only just decided to make the side trip to Moab. I'll post what I find on the board. | |

| I would love to go to moab and have thought about a trip as well. I know a sister club B4W is planning a long distance trip and Moab is one of the options. If they go then I may go with them and keep you posted. Hopefully I will be to the point where I can take 2-3 weeks vacation by then. | |

| Moab is a long haul.....I have been looking at it also..
I would also like to hit Flat Nasty which is about 12 hours. My last buggy is out there and the guy wheels with NAXJA. It would be cool to have the two clubs running together.
Like Nester says I think I will hit Tellico first and work my way to Moab.
I definitely wouldnt want to drive a jeep that far and expect to wheel it and drive it home... I know its done all the time but I prefer the trailer queen for that distance.

| I was thinking about doing the easter safari thing this year out in moab but it doesn't look like the jeep is going to be ready in time. So most likely i'll head out later in the year and run with people in my zj club that live out that way. | |

| I'll be out there around the end of August or early September. If anyone is planning on being out there at that time, let me know. I'll say hello. | |

| even if you cant get enough time off to drive there or don't want to you could always fly out and rent a jeep. It won't be the same, but you get to beat on someone elses jeep. If you really want to get good you could throw a lunch box in front and rear of the rental and have some real fun. then sell them when you get back. | |

| Not a bad idea but there is a place out there that rents rubicons to run on trails. I can't remember the name. I think it would just piss me off cause I know what my rig can do I would be held back by a jeep that is less built that mine. | |

| Looking toward at doing the rv thing and tow the jeep with some of the feedback. Thinking on what you guys are saying with needing to be more hardcore and my need to be in a group setting, I did a look see on the jeep jamboree. I liked the one in NY and they do have a moab trip in the fall. So safety in numbers. So it may evolve into a cross country deal - like a pee in the mississippi, BBQ in KC, visit friends outside denver and jeep the ghost towns.
But I do need to get to the point of lockers in the TJ, been toying with a aussie in the front to start. But then again the trip is in a couple years to save the dough for it.
