| It was low till he lifted it. He should of gone with 14s or mounted them though the hood. He even said it himself that he lifted to high. but he said he plans on jumping it so he might need all of that up travel. This was my favorite build on pirate till he lifted it and put the cage in. (I am not a fan of the poison spyder type cages) | |

| I was looking at the poison spyder cages as well and I don't like them either. Wish I could find the one on there I saw last year that i really liked. I'll have to find it in the next month or so. I like the shock hoop setup. Custom frame was nice too, couldn't tell if he narrowed the frame in the rear when he changed it or not. | |

| the rear frame is btf kit that narrows the frame to be able to mount Coil overs without notching.

| Yeah that frame does bend in. One of the pictures you could see the bottom side of the BTF kit that he used. | |

| yeah thats why I got the Toyota. I like to street my jeep to much. But it still fuels ideas of how you can get big tires with little lift. I think I'm doing pretty good myself. 5.5 in. lift springs with a 2 in body and I cut to clear the 37's. Its not all about the flex when your fully locked and geared right with a set of good crawl gear in the T-case. | |

| Big problem with tires that big is it dramatically reduces the turning radius due to contact with control arms or leaf springs. Unless you have really wide axles but still not as good as 35-37" tires. Good question is what is the smallest big tire you can run and be able to conquer all the trails you desire. it gets to a point where if you run tires too big then it takes all the challenge out of the smaller trails. 44" tires will make rock creek into a blue trail where 35" tires makes you consider very carefully the line you take and wary of every rock. 44" tires on a twisty blue trail and you are making 3-5 point turns at every curve in the road. I don't wish to take all the challenge out of the trail so I'll be limiting myself to 37" tires. I may also be lowering the jeep an inch or two after the tummy tuck for lower center of gravity on off camber spots. these coilovers really unload when off camber. West coast is a different story. they have rocks big enough to challenge any rig that comes its way. | |

| Yeah I'm happy with the 37's on the YJ. Items left on the rig are stuff like tube fenders which I might try to clearance the hood some. The flat belly pan and maybe work on the wheel base a little or just clearance the rear of the tub and figure for bump stops. I do need to regear to some 4:88's but that will have to wait. I still want the YJ to be a street friendly Jeep. Now the Toyota is going to be a totally different story. I might end up doing full width axles on 38-40 inch tires. | |

| I must say i'm pretty satisfied with the way my rig is setup right now. It's comfortable on the street and it is capable of running some high level trails...the only thing I miss is beating it a bit and I proved I can't do that after that yellow jacket ridge breakage. Hopefully the upgrade to the front axle and the super 88 kit will allow me to "reasonably" beat it if that makes any sense. I feel like I've reached a pretty solid goal though because I've always wanted to be capable of blacks/light red and moving to the 37"s seems to be ideal. It's always the best learning experience pushing what you have to the max even if it's the min of that max. Anyway...back to the LCG | |
