| Well lets see who would be interested in heading back down to the OBX for Jeeps on the beach this summer.... Looks like Hatteras is the popular spot.... I found a quick link to some places that accept pets in Hatteras: http://www.outerbeaches.com/OuterBanks/VacationRentals/Amenities/PetFriendly/ http://colony.vrmreservations.com/vrmgr/rental/PropertyDisplay.aspx?PropertyId=52&WebCode=Pets&ReturnPath=/vrmgr/search/WebgroupList.aspx What dates work well for everyone? Bill- when do the kids go back to school? Karen and I have two weddings to go to on Aug 8th so I can't make it down that weekend.
Let me know what works and I'll keep looking for different places.

| I will let Bill and Elva throw in the dates that work best for them first. We are going to have family in Duck the last week in august. That and where ever we stay is fine as long as we have our own rooms and people control there pets if they are unruly. If everyones dog is like Bill's dog wendy then I dont mind sharing a house with pets.
A place in Hatteras would be great but I have grown custom to the owens motel and personally enjoy the drive. I know that not everyones Jeep is as street friendly as mine so I'm willing to go with the crowd on where we all stay.

| First day back to school is August 19th and other than that the dates are open. I doubt that we will be taking the dog down there, would be nice but Wendy sometimes has issues with other dogs.(she does not get along with some younger female dogs) I do like the idea of being closer to Hatteras. | |

| I have to vote for closer to Hattaras. The adapters I put on the Jeep are not recommended for street use so I'd rather not be traveling an hour and a half each day on the roads just to get to and from the beach. I do like Owens but they don't take pets. | |

Here is a list of motel/hotels in Hatteras and several take pets.... Maybe we can find a place similar to Owens that is down in Hatteras. That way we could all bring our dogs, keep them separated, and be closer to the good beach...

| You have to drive on the street to get to the beach - so its gotta have a tag. They rent dune buggies down there so Von might be OK. You could always bring the truck out on the sand! | |

| They do care if you have tags and they will pull you over. Ask Nick how I know. Joe you would be fine if you took Mandy's ZJ down there. | |

Its a stretch. Its going to stick out even more than our klan of jeeps. Hard call to make it would suck to go all the way down there to find out you can run your junk.

| Hell why tow mandys jeep all the way down there when I could just run the truck on the sand. What kind of rules do they have down there for rigs. Also since its tagged md does that make a difference. For example WV has a law that you cant mount light bars on the roof but if your tagged out of state its all right. Or how some states the only law is mud flaps on the rig. | |

| Thats completely up to you. We have had our grand cherokee on the beach tons of times along with Emily's explorer which is stock. If you want to run your dually on the beach run your dually on the beach. Its not so much about the jeeps as much as it is just having a good time. | |

| I must say, I've had my YJ junk on the beach in MD and it wasn't near as fun as having my WJ I had. Same deal with the Pathfinder. Throw a decent set of skins on it and you can do whatever - just comes down to traction and ground clearance.
Most people that get stuck don't air down or stumble onto the beach in 2x (yes, i'm guilty). If you have half a head on you it doesn't take much. Our rock rigs don't make for much fun in the sand. On the other hand, I'd much rather F up my Jeep and get it covered in sand and blast tunes but life goes on. BUTTTTTTTTTTTTT ac is nice and good tunes is better and then when i put a good ditch on nicki drives it home.
Babbling drunk right now, yes, but point is, Von, you'd be happier with that balls deep Dudge.

| cool, i think the dually would work well. if i go , i am going to take the dodge. it just depends on what dates it is and how much the hotels are. i can get my mother to watch my little one, and take the two older kids up with. | |

| Just something small that everyone needs to keep in mind is owens has that huge lot out back for all the tow rigs and trailers. I plan on towing mine again or pulling a small trailer with the jeep and all our junk. Last year we had three rigs 3 trailers and 6 jeeps thats 12 parking spots. If you add Von and Joe thats 14 if we don't gain more people. If not we are going to have a hard time or end up having to pay to park extra trucks. | |

| Normally its peak season till the last week in august. It depends on the place you stay. Some of the higher dollar hotels are in season till after the holiday in september. Others are different. | |
