Emissions test Hydrocarbons allowed amount is 220 ppm, she blew 958.
Carbon Monoxide allowed is 1.2 pct, she blew 5.62.
check engine light was on, I covered that with the CB mike.
No cat on my jeep but he couldn't see it anyway due to the extensive skidplating.
they wouldn't let the jeep on the treadmill since I had the 35" tires on it and did the idle test at the tailpipe. I have a hole in the Banks header which is under warranty. Air gets in and causes the O2 sensor to trigger a computer response and dump more fuel. It's running really rich because of that and you can smell the unburnt fuel. Since I failed I have 4 months to get it fixed and test again.
you may apply for a repair waiver after the vehicle fails the test, is repaired, then fails again. You must spend the minimum amount which I think was just moved up to $450.

WOW!! Those are some high numbers! Was it that bad the last time you had it tested?

First step is to send the Banks Torquetube header back for a replacement.
Also need to install a catylitic converter, check the plugs, wires, cap and rotor etc.

The header should be in today or tomorrow. I will likely change it out this weekend. Also the cat will be in. I will weld that in as far up the pipe under the belly as I can get it this weekend. Plan is to hook up the complete exhaust for testing and then remove the exhaust from the cat back for wheeling. I will cut a pipe to run the exhaust back from the cat and dump it behind the belly pan as it was before. I don't have a time set but will likely get it done this weekend. Sorry for short notice.

Count me out. Nester & I will both be at Paragon on Saturday & I have a dance recital to go to on Sunday. I have been waiting for someone to do this project so I can see how it's done but Aunt Kathy duty takes precidence over Jeep work. Take some pics as it (and whatever other parts need to come out) comes off of the block & goes back in. Thanx!

New exhaust is on. Barely enough room for a cat but it's on there. Right at the bend of the head pipe I cut off everything and cut off the lead pipe to the cat and welded that together, then cut off the lead pipe for the muffler and mounted the muffler right up against the cat. Then ran pipe custum bent and welded around the upper triangulated links and out the stock location. All the check engine lights are off now. time for testing again.
