| pre 07 is what i would suggest. no emissions crap to deal with
as to brand, i honestly think all trucks sux just some sux more than others at any one time. i have owned diesel trucks from all of the big 3 and i wouldn't say one was worlds better than any other. but i do like the gmc's, i currently have a dodge ctd 05' works for me

| From what I have read and seen. Dodge is the way to go. I would love to find a super clean low miles 2nd gen dodge dually with a 5 speed. There is number of guys that do simple maintenance to them with not issues. The truck isn't a show winner and not the most plush of trucks but they seem to be the least head ache. Personally I'm a number of years away from really needing a diesel truck, but those are the trucks that get my vote. Till then to Armada is suiting me just fine and so far is twice the tow rig the van was. | |

| I'd never own another 2nd Gen Dodge. The Cummins was great, as was the D80 rear. everything else was a pile of shit.
They ALL have issues.. | |

| I like my 08 ford with the 6.4L I would not be afraid to get another 6.4L I have "a little" power added and have had no proplems. only proplem with the truck to date just started the other day the rad is leaking but cant really blame that on ford the new rads that have plastic sides suck ass.
I liked my 05 ford with the 6.0L but did have proplems with the heads and ERG once again I had "a little " power added but I would not get another 6.0L I dont think.
My .02 is stay away from the new (2010 and up ) for now there is lots of crap on all makes.
As far as the emmisions on the 6.4L i have now (or lack of) you can remove most of it with a programer that does not add more power but does up the MPG I have talked to guys getting 18-19MPG doing this upgrade I get about 15MPG no matter what I do with my upgrades.
Not a big fan of the dodges good motors thats about it
As far as GMC dont like the trucks all that much not much style there and there motors are maxed out from the factory if you upgrade you will brake shit.
Just my .02 Happy 6.4L GUY

| Ok so thinking if I pull a gooseneck then I should have a dually correct? Started searching for a 98-02 Ford F350 with manual tranny, not much out there with manual and DRW. Gonna sell the excursion after the last race. Seems as long as I stay away from the automatic trannys then I should do ok. Haven't researched the CHevys yet. | |

hmmm im going to have to strongly disagree with you on this. if your going long goose neck go DRW. If have any questions ill gladly load down my SRW and DRW trucks and let you make the decision for yourself. yes DRW are not great if your DD but you do get used to the extra width. Also bill let me know if your looking for a pop up to mount on that goose neck because im trying to sell my pop up.

| I do not plan on DD this vehicle. dually is likely going to be the way I go and probably a ford 7.3. Depends on what I can find. After the 3rd race I won't be in any hurry. | |

Correct but I remember reading the same or similar thread that there was a number of guys that have voted for it being over rated tows with less than what they need for. They make a truck with a dually rear for reason. The trick I believe is to have a real use for a dually.

| 1-2 trips a month at most. this thing will sit a lot. just thinking about what happens if a singe rear tire goes flat with a heavy load vs DRW. | |

| Mine is a daily driver it rides alittle rough my biggest problem is it doesent fit through most drive thrues . If you dont plan on lifting i would look at the duramax they ride the best with ifs the allison auto is one the best trans out. The duramax is a really good engine but the first year had injector issues . The 7.3 is also very good but the trucks had issues early ones had wiring issues , cam sensors , balljoints , hub assemblys , rust . My dads 02 was rusting about year after he bought it ford fixed it 3 times then he gave up | |

| i have towed and dd'ed both a dually and a sngle rear wheel truck. towing hands down the dually was far better with both a gooseneck and a tag along trailer!
noe for dd'ing the srw was better but i would and am going to buy a dually my next go around. the positives with a dually for me far out weigh the negatives .
oh and i am not spewing some crap i read on the intraweb either, first hand experience!! i don't trust most of that crap guys post on pirate. how do you know they have any real experience with a dually, most people will post crap and say "oh this and that" but the truth is no real world experience!
just my .02
and with a $1.48 more you can get a cup of coffee
