Anybody running Front and Rear air lockers will find that the wiring harness wires the front and rear locker in a series allowing engagement of the front locker to be accomplished only after locking the rear air locker. This is a safety feature to avoid accidental engagement at highway speeds. There are instances off-road where you might just want your front locked or if your rear locker fails at least you still have the front. I knew it was possible to alter the wiring to allow the Front locker to engage without the rear but it took me a very long time to find an actual tech article!!! It is a 10 min mod!
1. The yellow wire plugged into Switch 2 for the front locker must be unplugged.
2. Locate the red wire on Switch 1 for the rear locker.
3. Peel insulation off red wire with razor blade and spread apart
4. Insert new piece of wire with plug end and splice and solder into red wire
5. Plug new wire with plug end into the 2 position where the Yellow wire was previously located
6. Smile about a Free 10 min mod!
I dug up a wiring diagram to illustrate the process.
