| I am trying to get my YJ back up and running for the 11th and I need a new slave cylinder. Mine is the AX15 w/ the external slave but I have recently found that this model is a sealed unit (master cylinder, hydro line, and slave cylinder). I went to the dealer today for a good laugh and they quoted me $179.00 plus tax. I have also hear that if you go the dealer they get you one that is a sealed unit, bled and ready to install. All I can fiind (Napa, Autozone, etc.) is just the slave cylinder. It would appear that I could separate my sealed unit by knocking out the roll pin and just replace the slave but that looks like a big messy pain in the ass. I would rather just order it all as one. Is there a local dealer that won't rape me? | |

If you find one let me know..... $179 for the whole unit doesnt sound that bad... I havent dealt with an external one yet.. Usually all dealers are right in the same ball park..
Check out JcWhitney to see if they have it... | |

| The OEM ones are _supposed_ to be pre-bled and ready to bolt on. If that is a pretty fair price I am just going to drop the $50 on the slave by itself and prepare to get messy. I am not looking forward to laying on my back and attempting to bang out a 12 yr. old rusted roll pin just to be covered with DOT 3 when I succeed in removing it. Ahhh, the joys of Jeep ownership! | |

| I didn't read all of your original post and I thought you had a TJ, but then you said it was 12 years old my bad. By the way, remember, when you get it in your face be sure to flush your eyes well with water and it taste really bad. But look on the bright side it will clean your hands well. | |

| "TJs are self bleeding." Now you tell me. Bad enough but to have it bleed repairs on its own... | |

| Aww hell, I don't know what I was worried about. I went out there this morning and it tapped right out. Best of all I didn't loose a drop of fluid, yeah me, now I'm only out 60 bucks vs. 179. Today was a good day. | |
