Skyline cruise October 13th and 14th

Something to think about. This is a popular destination in the fall and camp grounds and hotels will be filling fast.

tick tock tick tock...........1st weekend is the KGB event 3rd weekend is crawlin for the cure(breast cancer research) and since I too like boobies and will likely be attending the 2nd weekend is best for me for this trip.

I can belive we only got 7 people to vote on this out of 90 some folks. What'a up?

Cause the poll doesn't work if half of the 90 on your list have quit, dont get online or aren't active people.

I was searching all over for the poll reply button and couldn't find it. I'd be up for the 13/14!

Weekend of the 13th works well. I'm in. Now lets start to work out the details of what the trip will entail.

Day run? or over nighter? I like the day run but if the mass wants a overnight run we can try that too.

My preference is for 1 day run. we could end the day with a picnic or with finding a diner somewhere to eat together.

Okay so here is my idea. I think that there are some that want to do a long run and those that might want to a short run. Since there are a couple of ways to get on to skyline drive this is what I'm going to do. I say that for those that want a long ride we start off I-64 exit 99 outside of Waynesboro, VA. For those that want a shorter ride start at skyline and 211. 211 can be reached from I-81 or 29 via Warrenton, VA. The meeting point for the two parties can be a small town off 211 there is a ton of little antque shops and road side stops (I will figure the name of the town its on the warrenton side of 211. Once both groups meet up we will head back up the mountain and ride skyline drive to Front Royal where we can all figure on where to eat dinner. Its just a idea but this is one that could please to mass and allow for some to make this a two day event. If we do this on a Sunday I know a great Bed & Breakfast for saturday night if anyone wants todo that. I'm thinking about it. Also for those that have families or have trailer rigs this doesn't have to be a "JEEP THING" It should still be nice top down weather so those that want can but I know that there are other that might want to bring the larger car. So let me know what you all think and we can work from here to plan the weekend of the 13/14

Great idea - already spoke to wife and she thinks it would be great. Good thing for me to get her to do the jeep thing without all the bounce. Im game

We are in... I will probably just drive my truck and not the jeep.. Not sure if I am going to tag it yet..

I will be the chase vehicle and can carry any supplies for everyone..

Ok I am very confused or just lost...This thread shows the Skyline drive run on Oct 13 and 14 and then on the meetup site is a trail run at Rausch for the same weekend..

That may be the case as it may fall on the same date as a usual monthly trip. Many of us are still doing skyline drive instead of a meetup ride.

Nester, since you have the lead on this skyline drive meet, why don't you take the charge and coordinate it. I have corrected the Meetup board and directed the efforts to the Skyline drive. If you need assistance let me know I will do what I can to help.

Your project run with it, make the call and set your pace. You got my support.

Please list the following:
Meeting location and time. Preferabily also provide the directions there,

Area Hotel or camp sites

Nearest bank and food store and well you know the drill.

Just cruzin. I just got home so i will post about the hotels and stuff later on.

The cruise is still on for the 13th and 14th I will look at the map this afternoon and find a address of I-64 and off VA-211 where the groups can meet-up and times.

Do you have a count for the folks going this Skyline drive weekend? Also, what is the best thing going, Camping or hotel? For the food stuff, are we cooking at the camp site or eating out?

I trying to figure distances and times for this ride at the moment. I want to just say that to make this easy for everyone that wants to go. We should just meet in Warrenton, VA there is a sheetz in town

Meet at the gas station at 10am for the cruise. We are going to do it this way in hopes for not dealing with the crowds and traffic since skyline is normally traveled from Front Royal. Instead we will be finishing in Front Royal and that will allow us to end the cruise near the interstates and allow for everyone to get home quickly.

I'm only planning on a day trip and what we can do is meet early for a late breakfast(9am) in town and then meet the last of the group at the sheets for fill up. Grap snacks and drinks for the ride cause the ride with with stops and the over looks should take about 4-5 hours (guessing ) Once in Front Royal those that would like to make there way home are welcome other who want to stop and enjoy a meal we can pick something in the Front Royal area for a early dinner/late lunch. Breakfast will be fast food. Snacks can be lunch its up to you get them in warrington not much after that. Dinner I'm looking to have at a sit down resturant.

This is the best plan I have so far and the most simple too.
