PostSubject: The rebuild of the GMC Jimmy   The rebuild of the GMC Jimmy Icon_minitimeSat Jan 19, 2008 4:14 pm

Well as requested here is the progress of the build. Its almost done.

So it started off as a 1991 GMC Jimmy with the following

Dana 60 front w/ Posi & 4.56's
35 spline Alloy inner and outter axle shafts
35 spline Lock outs by ATOR
Rock crusher diff cover
14 Bolt rear w/ detroit & 4.56's
Rear Pinion Guard by DIY4X
Front 6 inch lift springs
Rear 3 inch springs w/ 4 inch shackle flip by ORD
Extended brake lines
Blazen offroad Winch bumper
12,000lb Warn Winch
38.5 Super swamper TSL's
High steer by ORD
Hydro Assist by ORD
2 wheel steering pump conversion

So, the end of november came around and i started the hunt for a new body. Planned on a s10 truck cab but what luck! Mentioned to my uncle and he took me around back of his shop and said "Here, you can have this" And there was a 1988 S-10 Blazer 4x4 with 0 dents, 0 rust, 90,000 miles on it. Just no title... i about died.

Dropped it off at AOI and then the fun began. I took 90% of the jimmy apart so AOI wouldnt have to do all the work. Got it to them with nothing but the cab and the core support still on the body. They began the current mods....

PRP High back Comp seats, extra large Razz
Spool for the D60
16G fuel cell
Body swap (S-10 blazer onto the GMC Frame
Full roll cage, custom built
All custom body mounts
Front and rear custom bumpers
Cut the fire wall out to move the body forward on the frame
Cut a foot off the rear of the frame, 6-8 inch's off the front
B&M Floor shifter
Accu meter Gauges for the new dash (Volt/water/oil pressure/trans temp/5 inch monster tach
Cut the rear floor out to allow the body to sit low on the frame
H1 8 bolt Hummer rims, Dean inserts from pirate, and copper head 3/8th centers recentered to 4 inch backspace
When tax's arrive, 42-44inch TSL's

im sure im forgetting stuff, if i rememeber ill edit this post lol but now for the pictures....

Here is the jimmy, all perty and hawt.... conversation starter lol. More rumors came out that day.... 2 year resto, omg what an idiot, that thing is to pretty ect The rebuild of the GMC Jimmy IMG_1308

And this was the end of October, It got really beat up on the 2 trail rides in November but i dont have the pics. The body was basicly held on with ratchet straps and prayer at that

So thats what i got now. Finishing up the final touchs and i should be out sometime in feb to start doing some runs. Going to remove a leaf or 2 in the rear, and run with no shocks on the first run to wear in my springs better.

"stupid is that stupid does sir" lol! I know what you mean, I was just wondering what kind of rates they were charging with getting something like that done at a shop. I guessing their getting min $50 a hour and I can't even guess at how many hours they got tied up in it.
