Classic Cars is Virginia Empty
PostSubject: Classic Cars is Virginia   Classic Cars is Virginia Icon_minitimeThu Sep 18, 2008 6:02 pm

So as some of you know me and my little collection of 4x4's that I have a 84 Toyota pickup that I took to a mud bog a couple of weeks ago. Well after watching a friend of mine flop off the RTI ramp I had to copy and in doing so I cracked the windsheild and broke the door. After that I was not happy due to the fact that it will make title and tagging the truck a PITA. That was till I read the guide lines for Classic Cars in Virginia. So after the first of the year Not only will I be able to Tag and Title the truck as a classic I dont have to get emissions, state inspections and I can drive it up to 250 miles from my house which means I can Legally drive it to all my favorite wheeling places just for the hell of it. Also the mileage is unlimited on distance if it is a club event or show. mbn

Just found this on the DMV FAQ. gets even better.

VEHICLE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS CERTIFICATION

Do I have to get the vehicle inspected or show tangible proof of the safety equipment requirements for the model year in which it was manufactured and that it is capable of being safely operated on Virginia highways? No. This is a self-certification and you are required to certify based on your knowledge regarding the vehicle’s safe operation. However, you should not certify to it if you know it is not true. As of July 1, 2008, you are no longer required to certify that the vehicle meets the safety equipment requirements for the model year in which it was manufactured, only that the vehicle is capable of being safely operated on the highways of Virginia.
