| I have to beg to differ on the cost difference of a diesel and gas.. Initial cost is more and oil changes a few dollars more if you run conventional oil.
The price difference in fuel is well worth the benefit..Plus the 6 liter is a gas hog..
I once pulled with a 2500hd with a 6 liter and manual. Yes it was definitely alot better than the normal 5.3 but it was no diesel.
How about the resale value too??
I dont want to sound like I am dogging the 6 liter because I think its a great motor.
I run royal purple and change it every 6500 so the price of oil doesnt effect it.. I would rather put an extra $15 of fuel each tank to have the power difference..
As far as reliability I cant speak for ford but I have seen tons of dodges left stock or a small tuner run 300k without a blink.. As far as the duramax I dont think it needs a tuner to pull anything we are putting at it. My 03 was tuned and the trans was done including a different stall. All that did was get me in trouble playing with the camaro's and subaru's.. My 08 is bone stock and will stay that way..
It all comes back to personal preference. I never thought I wanted a diesel until I drove one and I wont buy anything different as long as I can afford too. I plan to keep this one for a long time....
Any motor is going to come apart if you put too much to it.. Its gonna take alot to pull a duramax or cummins apart. | |

| True but we get 13mpg when towing and pay right now $3.00 a gallon trust me i played this game myself when Amy bought her truck it all balances out but a diesel is still more money and not really needed for hauling a jeep on a 16ft trailer | |

| I bought an 88 F-350 dually with the 460 V8 and I have purchased two Ford Excursions with the V-10. Each time I grew tired of trying to find a truck with a diesel that was affordable. That being said, I'd give anything to have a diesel in either or both of my trucks. As far as the cost of fuel, if it is not a DD then I really think the fuel cost is not enough of an issue to pass on a diesel. As far as I am concerned, if you can afford the diesel by all means go for it! Just my 2 cents! | |

| Very Nice!! First thing I would check on it is the Fuel pressure. If it does not have a guage inside I would also add that. They have a known issue with the transfer and injection pumps and the way to catch a problem early is to monitor FP. Trust me I learned after a $1100 rebuilt injection pump.
