| I'm on the search for you Danny. Any specifics? I was checking out 4x4 Chevy's - found an 01 silverado 1500 LT 4x4 5.3L 97k $8900. If you get a loan lined up I could take you to a sale too. | |

This is a little longer than you may want but decent price depending on the condition.
Also danny, let me know if you still need a truck. A wholesaler has an 04 chevy crew cab black z71 and i was thinking of throwing a bid on it. Not sure of mileage, i'm gonna run up on wednesday and check it out clsoer.

| ok so I'm not really hijacking a thread it it contributes so here goes. Danny, I am thinking about upgrading to a double trailer and that means my single vehicle trailer would be up for sale. What I have to figure still is cost, figure whether the excursion can handle a double trailer and what I could get for my trailer. Thoughts? | |

| I was thinking the same thing when the CJ wouldn't fit on yours w/o going over the wheel fenders but I didn't want to mention it cause I know you have a ton of shit going on w/ the move and all. I'd be interested! | |

| I really have to look into it to see if the excursion can do it. As you mentioned Nick, I'd hate to be on the "stupid loads" thread of pirate. | |

| I was trying to find the specs on the V-10. I would look in your owners manual to find the tow specs for your truck. It should be able to do the work but would be pushing the limits. | |

| its not the v10 that you have to worry about its the suspension. Bill your truck is the equivalent of an f250. The f250 are only rated to tow between 10 to 12 thousand pounds off the hitch tops. My truck is only rated at 15,000 and it has the next size up hitch from the 2". Just to give you an idea each rig with gear will be in the 4 to 5 thousand range and the double trailer will be in the 1000 to 1500 hundred range putting you right at your max load. Also keep in mind that your gears probably aren't that steep so you will be burning some gas to get that trailer down the road. To give you an idea my 4.33 gears are just about perfect with a diesel when I tow my one trailer that usually has 10 to 12 thousand on it. I guess it can be done but i wouldn't do it with your truck. | |

| I think you are right Joe. the gears in this thing sucks and it barely keeps up with nick on the hills with both vehicles loaded. afraid I will have to pass on this until I'm ready to buy a diesel dually. | |

| Good move Bill if you had a Pickup and could do a 5th wheel trailer you would be much better off. The rig would be much more comfy to drive down the road..If we Didnt use the cap so much on Amy's truck I wouldve bought a 5th wheel trailer. | |

| Well I finally found a truck! Test drove a shitload of em the last few days. The one thing I never thought about is how nasty the interior of some of these things are... Found a clean one with no bells and whistles.... 04 Silverado with the 5.3 engine. Its only a 2wd, but it was thousands less than everything else I came across. Put some $ down and its actually cheaper per month than the cell phone bill..... Nala has taken a liking to it.... Now I can concentrate on finding the trailer and a home for the YJ! | |

| Just a tip. I would think about getting a trans. temp gauge and cooler for it and start hauling. The truck will handle hauling the jeep good but its good practice to get the most life out of your tow rig.
I'm currently in the process of getting the cooler to I can do the gauge and cooler for the van.

Yeah my E-350 (1 Ton) has a cooler and a warning light that will come on if it goes over safe temp. I'm upgrading the cooler on a tip I got for the cooler from a buddy that tows his race trail with his van.
