| maybe I said that wrong. I mean should I go with the 3 link setup or just keep the stock configuration. if I 3 link it I would only have to fab one mount point on the RE front Xmember then build the axel with a few prefabbed brackets. Or go with a fabricated or purchased truss plus brackets to make the stock configuration work. No leaf springs. So I guess the corect question is 3 link or 4 link with a small budget in mind.
Bill on pirate and google there were a couple nice write ups on doing your own hydro assist. The box is as simple as drilling two holes in the right spot. I finally found some good picks of the exact location.

| also I saw a guy build a nice truss out of 6x3 box that looked just like tnt that i thought about doing but I would need a plasma cutter to make those kind of cuts. I think he traced the the axel out in cardboard then transfered it over the steel to cut. Now that I think about it, maybe I should just give it a try and see how it turns out. If that fails i'm only out of $50 worth of steel and i'll just 3 link it. This way I could get started on it and not have to wait for more funds. | |

| ah 10-4. If you do the upper link on the drivers side make sure you double check drive shaft clearences. I learned the hard way and had to re-do mine. I have often thought if I had to do it again, put it on the passenger side because the only thing over there is the exhaust. | |

| are you talking about the front axel or the rear matt? i would have to go pass side on mine due to the front diff. Bill The zj have the same front setup as the xj and tj. For the plasma I know your using yours on your project. i can just wait till Grason finishes up with his. | |

| I am talking about the front, but you know now that I think about it I can't remember seeing any xj/zj with the upper link on the same side as diff. but most of everything else has it on the driver side. must be something about the unibody | |

| must be, when I was searching thru buid threads I actualy came across one xj who had it on the drivers side but it looked like it was welded to the cast diff cover which I thought was a bad thing. After many hours of searching and getting yelled at by mandy for paying more attention to the computer then her. i then told her if she had link information on her ass i would pay more attention to that then the computer. I thought it was funny but she didn't seem to find the humor in it any way I think i'm going to do a cheap 3 link for now with the idea of new knuckels, trussing and high steering it when something breaks. i'll just take the stock Tie rod and flip it around then weld a drag link to it. Then i'll just make some tabs to connect the hydro to that. it looks like the brackets and links should run me around $200 to get the front 60 under the jeep. With the money I save I may be able to purchase a front locker instead of welding it. Also rear 60 brackets just got here today | |

| On the front D60's how do you get the calibers off? i removed the two bolts and tried to slide the caliber bracket off but it hits the rotor. Do you have to remove the rotor or im i missing something simple. | |

| must be different from mine. Mine has a single bolt at the bottom attachment site of the caliper. remove the bolt and then you can tap out the little I-beam looking bracket, slides off with some effort. Then the caliper just comes right off. | |

I'll tell you what I really feel bad for the guys who have to move those axels around by hand. They are some heavy son of bitches.

| All right I know I'm a hillbilly but at least I'm warm. Decided i needed some heat in my shack. This only lasted a day due to the fact that the smoke wouldn't go up through the hole in the ceiling. Decided to do something about it so I got to work. (Yes shits a little slow for me to be doing this) Got the floor installed and electric with a better source of heat. Time to get some real work done. I went ahead and began to tear down the front 60. You have to love 29 years of grease and dirt. The wire wheel has great ability of taking that crap and redistributing it on your clothes. Also my rear brackets came in last week so I'm goint to try to get that stuff tacked in and thrown under the jeep to see what I have. I'm still undecided on what the hell I'm going to do with the front axel. if i'm going to four or three link it. | |

Depends if we got help. 15x15 with minimal digging and cutting takes me two days to do by myself. If you have a but load of digging and different angles to worry about and cut it will take a three man crew Two days to do. Also keep in mind your also going to need to install about 5 tons of cr6 give or take and 1 ton of stone dust under the two tons of brick. I can't move all all that stuff in one shot due to the fact that I can't take my big truck out of state. Hey Nick I dubbed it the man cave. i just need some beer posters now like bill has.

what does that ring that is where the diff cover bolts onto for? Does that just give support to the truss? the HD diff cover actauly gets welded to that ring, just haven't got around to it yet. Matt thats a good idea maybe I could make it out of 1/4" steel or something and just weld it on the outside. Or how hard would it be to just cut the RE ones off the tube and reweld balistic ones on that fit. I'm guessing not to hard, I still have plenty of thread to extend out the lowers seeing that there almost adjusted all the way in.
