Jeeps on the Beach 2009....

I just checked out the website and the dates and I think it might be a go. I don't know if I want to take the Jeep or not. If I don't take the Jeep I'm going to need tires for the truck but I really don't think I feel like dealing with the Jeep. The dogs are very content in the truck too.

I can understand, I think. Nice to have the truck down there and out of the elements and not have to deal with dragging the jeep on a trailer the whole way. For me though, gotta have the jeep there topless and experiencing the elements in their fullest. last year while waiting for dinner in the parking lot and jeep crowded with the trail cover over the bikini top and still getting soaked from the heavy rain. GLAD to hear you may make it.

Yah, everytime i'm there i wish i had the jeep but i just want to relax and that jeep has a hard time letting me do that. I'm gonna be jealous though not having it there.

P.S. If you can't tell i'm pretty sold on going. Nicki and I will make a decision tonight.

It will be a lot of fun. I'm working on a trailer right now that I bought off of Von's brother. Tore the deck off this weekend and need to get new rubber and install the lights before its near roadworthy.
Karen said she isn't riding in the Jeep the whole way down w/ the dog in her lap....

So she rides on the trailer and the dog rides shotgun - problem solved

I'll get her a bean bag chair and some bungee cords to keep her strapped in...

We just added another day to our stay so we will be arriving on Wednesday the 12th.

we are going to NC to visit my brother on sat the 8th and checking in for JOTB on sunday the 9th. gonna make a whole week of it.

got a head start on everyone. Went down to Bullock, NC to visit my brother for half a day and now staying at a hotel in Emporia about 2 hours from kill devil hills. we will sleep in tomorrow and go visit the Grave Digger Monster truck shop and a few other things on the way down. For those of you not coming down....SUCKS TO BE YOU!

Holy Shit it actualy looks clean WHAT THE ....

Did a short recon. there is a lot of beach open so no worries there. As for the motel we have the 2 room suite and still a little tight for space. We do have a nice furinshed full kitchen. 1 mattress is 4/10 (10 is comfortable and 0 is laying on the comp course) and the other mattress is 2/10 and squeeks like hell. parking will be tight for those bringing trailers. I disconnected and left it against a fence on the side of the parking lot. the pool is 8' and nice, water is warm. there is a really good supermarked across the street (conners). there is an ABC store next door for your basic alcohol needs. There are gas grills, one in back and one by the pool with picnic tables. they are shared so first come first serve. doggy area is around back, not a lot of running room but there is some. also around back is the horseshoe pits near the gas grill and a garden area. the place is a lot smaller than the pictures depict. Elva says aside from the parking and the poor quality mattresses the place is alright.

Sounds like you guys will be OK but how do they take them pics to make things look so good. Your at the beach you just need to sleep in the room. Have a good time ! Are you having withdraw syndrome from the CJ yet?

yeah looks clean because before I left i took the sander to the wheels and the rusty spots. then put a fresh coat of black where it needed it and recoated the wheels. it wasnt to actually clean it but instead to cover any bare metal. The salty sea water would eat this thing up in a hurry. Yeah I do miss working on the CJ but a rest is in order. When I get back I can shift back into 3rd gear with it so i can be ready for the test run on the 23rd.

Sounds like we'll have to drink a lot more to get a good night sleep... oh well - I can handle that. Glad to hear that there are grills to use!

We will have one more coming with us. This is Jorja. She was a stray that we took in last Friday. She had a flea collar on but nothing else. I took her to a vet to be scanned for a chip (she didn't have one), put up signs, drove around with her asking people if they had ever seen her before, put in a "found" report at the animal shelter and have not gotten any responses. We think she may have been abused because of some of her actions. Anyway, she is getting along with Ginger and most of the cats so we have decided to keep her if no one claims her. We can't board her because we don't know if she has her shots and she isn't legally ours for 30 days so we can't give her any. She is very sweet and lovable and we really don't have any choice but to bring her along. She will probably stay in the room while we are at the beach and will be on leash next to one of us the rest of the time. We believe she is a Jack Russell Terrier mix.




Oh, and this is Rusty. We took him in about 3 weeks ago and went through the same procedure as the dog but again - no response so we are keeping him too. He is an awesome cat but will be a big boy. He weighs 8.5 pounds and is only between 5 and 6 months old. He will be staying home with the other 2 cats....one of which likes him and the other one pretty much hates all of the animals in the house. My house is a zoo but I can't help it...I'm a sucker for stray animals.

Maybe if I'm lucky you'll find a stray down in Hatteras named Nala who has had all her shots, weighs 40 lbs, can jump a fence from a stand still and can break out of any cage like Hudini....

Yeah - Rusty is a very good cat - doesn't start trouble with anybody. His paws are huge! I can;t wait to see how big he will get.

Umm - no more dogs....especially houdini dogs.
I didn't want another one but she is so damn sweet and cute.
You can't walk 6 feet in my house without tripping over something with fur and a tail.
5 animals is a little much. My neighbor's little girls keep finding these strays.
We told their parents "the next one they find, you keep it".

Kat you will be happy to know there is a hose by the pool that can be used for washing the dogs. saw someone doing that this evening. spent the day on ocracoke island and explored all the jeep access points. GREAT NEWS! there are miles and miles of beach access open. found the access points near the hotel and marked them on the GPS. one has waves the other side is calm, bay side near the ferry channel(saw 2 schools of fish near there). not very crowded today and it was near 100 degrees.
