| I had mine mounted behind the rear seat. on top of the wheel wells like so http://www.jeeptech.com/body/him.html
And some other places http://www.stu-offroad.com/recovery/hi-lift/hi-lift.htm http://www.rockcrawler.com/techreports/dwtjhilift/dwtjhilift.htm http://www.jeephorizons.com/tech/hilift/ don't like this one to close to battery
http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/showthread.php?t=32938 the way nesters is
If you keep it outside, keep it lubed or it will be useless when you need it. I wouldn't recomend leaving it outside though. If you keep it inside, keep it lubed or it will be useless when you need it.
oh yeah keep it lubed. When using keep a firm grip on the hadle, keep face away from handle and have a hammer or heavy object handy to beat the piss out of it when it won't let your jeep down

Carry mine there too... but wasn't bolted... tighly bungeed down to the rungs on the floor... Carry etc handle bolts/nuts too... mine have a habit of spinning themselves off or stolen by the gremlins living under the hood (or maybe the trolls in the transmission tunnel.... hmmm )

| I just used a couple of bolts, washers, nuts and wing nuts from home depot to bolt it to the luggage rack which is mounted to the upper roll bars with U-bolts. I only carry the Hi-lift on wheeling trips. Its too heavy and it rattles too much to carry around every day - not to mention the rust when it sits out. I keep a bottle jack for changing tires etc in the trunk. For a while I mounted the jack on a tab on the bumper with a small bolt and a ratchet strap up top to keep it snug. | |
