| ok I am in the process of stretching the rear axle back, I removed the fuel tank and rear bumper with plans on building a new bumper and fuel cell. when I looked at the end of the frame I found what appears to be a cut section of the end of the frame and a piece of angle iron welded to the bottom of the frame for mounting the bumper. Is this the normal design of the CJ frame? I know for a fact the guy that built this CJ the first time was an IDIOT! booger welds everywhere etc. Check out the picture and let me know if the angle iron was a normal part of the frame and the notch normal etc. I think I have a lot of work to do. | |

| Thats great, I think they did a great job. There should be a cross member back there like your YJ, just different shackle mounts. | |

| if you look close you will see 2 cross members made of CURTAIN ROD! used to hold the gas tank in. I should have just started with fkn 2x4 tubing and built it myself. | |

| Wow...that's some nasty rot but nice finished product. that's the first i've seen that cj. I've been meaning to take a closer look at the cross member on my dad's. He got a big heavy bulletproof knockoff rear tire carrier and bumper and it feels like it's gonna rip the back end of the jeep off. Our first thought was beefing up the back of the frame and cross member (or whats left of it) | |

| I've been looking at pics of frame resto and this one looks nothing like stock. it may work well for me since the higher frame means more clearance. | |
