| Gonna go wireless since Im moving the computer room to another space in the house. I have cable modem with high speed internet. 1: I need to share internet with 2 other computers and 2. I need to have a wireless LAN for gaming between the 3 computers for games like UT3 etc. All 3 computers will be in the same room with less than 30 feet between them. Should I go with the "wireless g" or the new "wireless n" network? | |

| I dont think that they have finalized "n" yet as it is still a draft n. I just googled wireless n and found a ton of info on it. Are your computers already g capable or will you have to buy new network cards? Theoretically, n will be faster than g and have more of a range than g but it is still in draft, i beleive, and your components that you buy now may not be compatable with the final n specifications. I have g in my house. I love it. On counterstrike, my ping is around 60 ms for g and 50ms for wired. I cant tell the difference. I would also recomend llinksys products. They are powered by cisco and i have never had a problem with any of their products even after years of hard use. | |

| you are correct about n being in draft status and will be for another year or so. I will go with g since most say it works fine for them. I will have to buy new cards for all three computers (2 if I use netgear because I already have a super g card in one of them) in addition to the wireless router. Thanks | |

| Your not going to benefit by going with N on anything really.
At a 54Mbps transfer rate...(G)
Your not getting anywhere near that with your current ISP. Verizon FiOS only goes up to 30.(And thats over $100 a month)
As for in the network itself... A 1 gig file would take either take 20 seconds(G) or 10 seconds.(N)
How much does that really matter to you? And remember, thats only within the network. | |

| As long as there is no significant lag while my kids kick my ass at UT3 or other first person shooters and the internet is not slow then I'm ok. | |
