I would have already done it if it wasn't for this darn family business. I wish I could cut down the travel time to go wheeling.

| as it turns out the package from trick tools was not the bender but instead just the handle. it showed that the bender ships from another factory. looking good. ambitious goals for one day, I like it. | |

| Did some calculations and found that the weight of steel tubing in lbs per foot = 10.6802 x wall thickness x (diameter-wall thickness). 1.75" DOM .120 thick weighs 2.08904712 pounds per foot. 106' of cage will weigh about 221 pounds. | |

Actualy I was going to just throw in a lockright because of wanting to run cutter brakes in the back. Due to some stuff going on I wasn't able to work on the jeep but I did get some time to make the templates for the brackets that i'm going to weld to the 8.8

I don't see anything wrong with a lunchbox and he doesn't really get on it and destroy anything, at least that i know of. No Joe's style of driving doesn't isn't all skinny petal. Joe like most of us will plot a path. But, Lockrights are trash. I have known very few people that like them at all. Lunch box lockers are not always the most faithful of lockers. Most that have the Powertrax and Aussie lockers seem very pleased with them unless they break a spring, which even them is a rare occurrence. I'm sure that there are some that would love to say other wise. Personally I would go with a Aussie, its hard to beat a locker that has a great track record and cost under 300 bucks. Ask Danny, Paul or do a search for yourself to read the reviews.

| I didn't relize aussie put one out for the 8.8. I have a aussie up front in the d30 that was pauls old locker. It has worked well so I guess it just comes down to what ever I get a better price on. If I had to pay the same price for both, I guess I would go with the aussie. But on the flip side i think the lockright would hold up if just used the skinny pedal with some common since. Kind of like the welded d35 I had that lasted for almost a year on 33's. Also I decided to get lazy and orderd ballistic fabs mounts to do the four link. After I saw the cost I relized the cost of sawzaw blades and my time would of probly been about the same. They said it would probly ship thurs, so it looks like it will be a two weeks or so till get to the four link. So i guess this weekened i'll start getting ready to swap over the v8. I'll tell you what after seeing all the damn wires behind the dash i'm starting to wonder if its really worth it. | |

| Worth it if you take your time and make sure you do it all the right way the first time. take lots of pictures and label all your steps with tape with the step number and parts in bags. If you working on it on sunday I might be able to come up and give you a hand. | |

| Did some research and found out that a good bit of the wireharness is plug and play on the outside of the firewall there is just one section that runs through the dash that I have to take the dash apart to make the connections. What i'll do this weekend is pull the harness off the v8 engine and begin to swap it over to the I6 one. That alone should take most of the weekend. Thats the hard part, once thats done its just a matter of dropping the motor/ tranny back in. wich should take about a day. As it stands now this weekend harness swap next weekend weld in 4 link following weekend put driveline back in. looks like that gives me most of march to get the cage in and finsh with the body. also I decided to throw the 242 TC back in for now so if i dont have the doubler finished in time the jeep will still be able to run starting around the begining of april. | |

| just got word back that its going to be a few months till a 231/300 doubler kits go back on sale again. I guess i'm just going to have to go with the 231 with the terra low kit for now. At least when the doubler kit is available again, I can still use the 231 and have some real low gears. As for an update, I have one of the rails done to mount to the unibody and just got confirmation that my brackets should be here this week. so it looks like I will be able to weld up the four link this weekened. Also I'm hoping to swap the v8 motor in the following weekend. I'm going to need a hand with this so it can go smoothly and quickly without breaking anything. So if anyone feels like helping me out let me know. As always, All the beer you can drink afterwords. | |

| Okay just got word that the tube bender should be here around the second week of march Heres the tube bender I went with. As for work on the jeep, it has come to a grinding holt do to the weather. Though I did have some time to finish one of the frame stiffners/ LCA mount. The holes in the sides are for plug welds. Also I got my brackets in from BTF and the damn things were defective. The cut marks were off by a little so the tabs would not go in. After calling them they said that sometimes it happens when the torches get old and that they would send me some new ones next week. Alwell I guess that works seeing that the weather sucks outside anyway. They should be here tuesday or wed. of this week.[img] | |
