| taking out that fence really opened things up. I'm not really a fan of the bolt though the tube. looks like the bolt could get hung up on rocks. you could thread a small piece of dom and weld it in. something like this but grind it smooth. It might be alittle stronger too. http://www.summitmachine.com/store/index.php/chassis-components/seat-belt-bungs/index.html
other then that looking good. sorry I couldn't help this weekend

| Plan is to use a smaller bolt that is just long enough to get a nut on it and feed it in from the bottom. The ones in it now are just for locating purposes. | |

| Saturday was a very productive day. Not because I got a lot done but because Matt did. I had the yard crew working 6 a.m. til 5 p.m. and had to run back and forth a LOT. Matt kept diligently working on the CJ without complaint or hesitation. I truly appreciate that Matt and hope I can return the favor one day. That being said the coilovers are installed and the CJ is no longer on jack stands! I do have clearance issues with the rear. At full drop with the other side flexed the shock hits the frame and the other side hits the tire. Only by about 1/2" on both sides but enough that the mounts had to be changed. We moved the mounts out on top and bottom to keep the angle(Matts Idea) and I'll be getting some new rear rims. the Walker Evans wheels have about 5 1/4" of backspacing. I'll order two for the rear with about 3 1/4" of backspacing and all should be good. Stance is really low now that it is off the wheel dollys and jack stands. I can rest my elbow on the upper door bar standing next to it. Pics to come later. | |

agreed. It is so satisfying to cross things off the list without having to add 3 more along the way.

| Got some work done Thursday. Finished welding the final piece of cage, front hood rail support area. welded on some grill mounts and hydraulic cyl mount. Welded in the framework for the fuel cell. Installed new high steer arms from Ballistic Fab. They have the adjuster nut instead of the spring and took out all the free play. I need 2 new heim joints for the high steer arms, mine have 5/8" hole and I need the 3/4" hole. Assembled and installed the hydraulic hoses for the steering. Still needs routing issues resolved. Measured for limiting straps and brake lines. Measured for driveshafts. Measured for all thread for the fuel cell mounts. Good day. | |

| this weekend was not that productive. Flexed teh suspension out and found that the front coils were hitting the tires and high steer arms at full stuff. Relocated the mounts 1 1/4" in and 1 1/2" back on top and the lower mount was moved inward 1/4". everything clears now except at full stuff the tire fully turned will spin the coil spring. | |

We didn't check with wheels fully turned. high steer arm contacted the lower retainer. Fixed the pinion angle and that helped but still would contact.

| When I hoisted the tire up at first the front axle was twisting funny and not doing what my scale model was doing. I dropped it back level and discovered that the pinion angle was off about 12 degrees up. I reset the pinion angle and flexed it out again and all worked well and pinion angle stayed on line. | |

| I ended up having to move my co mounts 3 time before I got it right. Why was the pinion rotating upwards? | |

Yes. Pinion was rotating upwards and twisting hard towards the drivers side. Adjustments in the control arms solved the problem, had to really shorten the uppers so the pinion would level out at ride height. took awhile to figure out how the pinion was rotation up.
